Sandplay is a therapeutic approach that builds on a child's natural inclination to play.
The use of sand and figurines in therapy is an effective way of helping children who are experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioural, learning and social problems.
Through sandplay children can create, understand and change their personal world. In the "free and protected space of the tray", sandplay can provide the opportunity to resolve conflicts, express feelings, develop problem-solving skills, and assist clients in discovering new ways of relating to themself, family and others.
This process is primarily a non-verbal therapeutic approach and is ideal for many children with different verbal abilities. It is an approach that is also valued by adult clients.
